My Plans for "Retirement"

We all have a vision in our head of what retirement will be like. Most people see a silver haired version of themselves sipping a cocktail on a tropical beach. That sounds nice, but I see a slightly older, much less stressed version of myself doing all the things I don't currently have time for.

Here's some of the things I plan to do on a regular basis once I have more free time:
  • Sleep in until sunrise
  • Enjoy a leisurely cup of coffee
  • Soak in our hot tub
  • Switch from an electric to a safety razor
  • Meditate
  • Spend more time with my family
  • Practice guitar
  • Exercise
  • Go hiking
  • Take day trips to fun places
  • Go camping
  • Tinker
  • Volunteer

These are some specific goals I would like to achieve in the next few years, which probably wouldn't be possible while working:
  • Hike the Pacific Crest Trail
  • Hike the Appalachian Trail
  • Bike across the country
  • Build a successful business
  • Finish rebuilding my motorcycle
  • Work/Volunteer as a park ranger
  • Learn to slackline
  • Learn to weld
  • Visit every (good) National Park
  • Visit every (good) California State Park
The great thing about all these goals and activities is that they won't cost a lot of money.

If we have some extra money (or air miles), here's the international travel I would like to do:

Vietnam (Ha Long Bay and/or Cat Ba Bay)

Argentina

Portugal and Spain
